Eligibility:

  • Teams should consist of 1-4 members. Diversity is encouraged, and members can be from different universities, with at least one member from GDSC McMasterU. GDSC leads, core members, and general members are all welcome to participate.

Project and Submission Requirements:

  • Projects should address at least one United Nations Sustainable Development Goal and incorporate at least one Google technology. Projects must be original and have been created during the period of the Google Solution Challenge Hackathon (from Saturday, Feb. 3rd @ 11am to Sunday, Feb. 4th @ 1:00pm). Submission deadline is Sunday, Feb. 4th @ 1:00pm. All projects must be posted on our GDSC Google Solution Challenge Devpost page.
  • Only one person from each team should submit on Devpost. Ensure you have added your teammates as collaborators on your Devpost submission.

Challenges/Prizes:

  • Embracing Quality and Accessibility: Teams are encouraged to develop innovative solutions that promote inclusivity, break down barriers, and enhance accessibility for individuals with diverse needs. Whether it's designing apps, platforms, or tools, participants will have the opportunity to make a positive impact by fostering a more inclusive and equitable digital environment for all.
    • Each team member wins a Google Nest Mini
  • Protection of Nature: Teams are encouraged to design a solution that safeguards nature by celebrating and preserving the diversity of life in our oceans and/or ecosystems on land. Your solution must address the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: Life Below Water, Life on Land.
    • Each team member wins Google Pixel Buds A-Series
  • Hacking for Mental Health Wellness: Teams are encouraged to create innovative applications, platforms, or tools that address various aspects of mental health, such as stress management, community support, etc. Participants have the opportunity to make a positive impact through mental health awareness and/or self-care.
    • Each team member wins Fujifilm Instax Mini 7+ Instant Camera.
  • Best Overall Hack: Each team member wins a Fitbit Inspire 3.
